Trigger point locations
Between the spine of the scapula and the thoracic spinous processes.
Referred pain pattern
Superficial burning between the scapulae and along the medial scapular border.
Palpation & testing
Palpate the muscle belly along its accessible course. Reproduction of the patient's familiar pain on palpation supports involvement.
Common causes
Rounded shoulders, prolonged seated computer work, weak scapular retractors.
Self-care & clinical treatment
Scapular retraction strengthening, posture cues. Clinically: needling, postural reeducation.
